Mary’s Song
 46 And Mary said:
  “My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
   holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
   from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
   remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers.”

Mary had such insight in to who God was and how He was blessing her but, she didn’t understand everything. I wonder about some of the insights she had. What were they? How much did she truly understand? What would it be like to raise the son of God?

In the same way, we knew who Christ was when we accepted him as our personal savior. We understood a desperate need for him and the forgiveness he held for us. We knew he loved us and gave his very life for our redemption.  Whatever insights we had, Christ far exceeds our expectations.  We gain a whole new understanding of forgiveness, love, sinfulness, grace, and mercy after we become his. The Christmas story takes on a new luster. It is a chapter in the greatest story ever told. I hope that this year you are able to embrace the full passion of Christmas and all that is means.

“Mary Did You Know” by Mark Lowry
Mary, did you know That your baby boy, would one day walk on water? Mary, did you know That your baby boy, would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know That your baby boy, has come to make you new? And this child that you delivered will soon deliver you
Mary, did you know That your baby boy, will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know That your baby boy, will calm the storm with his hand?
Did you know That your baby boy, has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby you kissed the face of God?
Oh, Mary did you know
The blind will see The deaf will hear The dead will live again The lame will leap The dumb will speak And the praises of the Lamb
Mary, did you know That your baby boy, is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know That your baby boy, will one day rule the nations?
Did you know That your baby boy, is Heaven's perfect Lamb? The sleeping child you're holding is the great I am
Today’s Prayer
Lord, Christmas season is upon us and my heart is soaring. Everywhere are reminders of you and all you have done.  Thank you that the hope of the world has come. May we sing and rejoice, giving all glory to you. May we never take for granted what you have done and may our passion for you never grow cold. Amen
