Today's Devotion
Today's Devotion is brought to you by Shelley Brandon, Grief and Encouragement Coach
2 Corinthians 5:16-18
New International Version (NIV) 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
That first sentence caught me where it hurts… “So from now on we regard NO ONE from a worldly point of view” (emphasis mine). I don’t know about you but I tend to look at other people and think, “At least I’m not like them”. This part of me is especially active at places like Wal-Mart. There lurks inside me a tiny middle-school aged girl with a boulder on her shoulder. Thoughts of, “I’m not THAT bad, just look at them…” run through her mind on a much too frequent basis. Is this how I’m supposed to look at the world around me? Do I know anything about them, their story? I may not be as bad as them, because I know that I’m worse than they are by my attitude of judgment. Praise God that I am made new in Christ Jesus. Praise God that each morning is a new opportunity to reach out and learn the story of those I would judge. Praise God that I can come before Him everyday and beg for Him to show me these lost lambs through His eyes!
Prayer The Old Has Gone, The New Is Here!! Happy New Year! Dear Lord, forgive me for looking at your world through my eyes. I implore You to change my eyesight so that I am able to see your world through YOUR eyes only. Amen
