Today's Devotional brought to you by Prayer Wariror Michelle Simpson

Psalm 46:10
New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

Haggai 1:2-5
New King James Version (NKJV)
2 “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’”
3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple[a] to lie in ruins?” 5 Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!

Luke 10:41-42
New King James Version (NKJV)
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Stress, anxiety, busyness, fear, worry all of these things can separate us from God and what He wants to share with us. When we allow those things to begin to rule our lives it is a clue that there may be idols in our lives. Chances are the very things that are causing us to feel stress, worry, fear, anxiety are the things we are thinking about all day long. An idol is anything or anyone that we put ahead of God.

God did not rebuke the Israelites because they had built homes for themselves and their families. Neither did Jesus tell Martha that preparing food for the guests was a bad thing. God knows we need places to live and food to eat. He created every part of us and knows our every need. It is when we put our needs ahead of God that He steps in to get our attention. God desires and deserves first place in our lives. Today make a date with the Lover of your soul! Then commit to keeping that date every day. God loves you! He thinks your face is lovely and your voice is beautiful (Song of Songs 2:14)! He desires to spend time with you! Be still, cast all your cares on Him and know that he is God!

Father, Lover of my soul, I desire to sit at your feet and hear your voice! I long to know the dreams and plans you have for me! I want to walk, dance, sing and live with You for all eternity! Help me to make time to put You first and trust You for the rest of my needs! You are faithful and have promised to supply all of my needs.I love You LORD! In Jesus name, Amen.
