God Made Only One of Me by Diane Dike, Ph.D.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Second Chance with Saving Grace
P.O. Box 673, Eagle, CO 81631

Inspiring autobiography tells the story of how one woman’s journey
took her far away from God and how she found her way back into his loving arms with a smile, a service dog named Gracie, and a second chance.

Sooner or later, we all need a second chance. When it doesn’t materialize, the consequences can be tragic. Yet something as simple as blatant honesty from someone who reaches out to help and who shares her own story of overcoming acute challenges can provide the incentive others need to embrace their own crucial second chances.

"You’ll find Diane’s words to match her life – energetic, hopeful and crammed with vibrancy. She is one of my favorite people – I’m thinking her readers will say the same.” ~ Max Lucado, author
"Her courage in the face of great obstacles has always challenged and encouraged me. But her unwavering faith in the God she serves is probably the greatest lesson of her life. I see in her the walk by faith that is tested and found true." ~Michael W. Smith, musician, actor, author

To author Dr. Diane Dike’s amazement, readers overwhelmingly respond that her newly released autobiography God Made Only One of Me: A Triumphant Journey from Pain to Hope has done just that.

Throughout this deeply personal story, Diane shares how her own miraculous second chance saved her life and reunited her with the God she had turned away from. Her story is replete with painful moments, including childhood ordeals that wounded her very core, her time in a psychiatric ward with its utter despair and depression, her loss of faith, and the destruction of the life she expected to live when she was diagnosed with a rare, incurable, and life-threatening blood disease and her marriage ended in divorce.

She also shares the uplifting story of how, with Christ’s help, she clawed her way out of her depression and found her way back to God – the most amazing and wonder-filled experience of her life. Though her physical challenges remained, she met and married her soul mate Paul, fell in love with her service dog Gracie, and put her special needs education background to work embarking on a life of reaching out to those in need, all the while testifying to the power, joy, and transforming faith she finds in her relationship with God.

Diane concludes, “Whatever your challenge, this book will encourage you, inspire you, and equip you for victory.”

Great is My Faithfulness?

Micah 6:8
Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?

Hebrews 11:6
New King James Version (NKJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

James 2:21-23

New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[a] And he was called the friend of God.

Because of God's great love, faithfulness, kindness and mercy toward me I desire to please Him. Exactly how do I do that? How do you give God a gift that will please Him? He has everything and if there were ever anything He needed or wanted it He could certainly create it! Isaiah tells me that all of my righteousness is like filthy rags so how can I please God?

Micah 6:8 tells us God has already shown us how to please Him. He requires that we act justly, be honest in our dealings with friends, family, neighbors and others; to love kindness and mercy, to extend grace and forgiveness to those who offend or injure us and to treat everyone with the same love, forgiveness, patience, understanding, and mercy that God treats us with and we are to do theses things in order to bring glory to God, not ourselves.

The writer of Hebrews says that it is impossible to please God without faith. What is faith? According to Webster faith is allegiance to duty or a person, belief and trust in and loyalty to God. Seems simple enough until the next crisis hits and I scramble, worry and fret about how "I can fix" the situation. Oops, that doesn't show trust in God! Trusting in God would give me peace that no matter what happens He is in control and is caring for me. Okay so maybe my faithfulness isn't perfect, but it can be great with God's help! In those times that my faith falters He is just and good to remind me of Who He is and what He is capable of! When I repent and turn back to Him, He is quick to forgive. Through every failure, God draws me closer to Him and my faith is strengthened! He will continue to work in me and give me opportunities to work with Him so that my faith may be made perfect!

Father You are the Author and Finisher of my faith! I desire to please You above all things! So great is Your faithfulness to me! Forgive me when my faith falters! Help me to do all that pleases You! Strengthen my faith! In Jesus Name, amen!

Dike going to the dogs for book signing, but will Gracie steal the show?

For immediate release: April 13, 2008
Colorado author Diane Dike, Ph.D., will headline the Colorado Pet Expo at the Denver Merchandise Mart April 18-20th. While at the expo, Dike will be signing copies of her series-based book Gracie Comes Home and highlighting her courageous story that will break and warm the hearts of readers while inspiring them to overcome even the most daunting of challenges. Her "partner in paws" (and the star of the book) Gracie will also be on hand during the event.

Gracie is a 7lb Italian Greyhound Service Dog (a one-of-a-kind) that not only warms the heart of everyone she comes in contact with, but also (literally) warms her human companion Diane, who suffers from Cryoglobulinemia. The rare, blood clotting bone disease causes Diane to suffer from a wide-range of symptoms such as joint swelling, muscle aches, sores on her body and depression just to name a few. Gracie serves not only as a canine body warmer when Dike needs her body temperature raised, but also serves to assist Dike with other tasks as a typical service dog would. The team will be available to sign autographs and Diane will offer heart-warming stories around the day-to-day battle and survival of this one time athlete who hasn't let this disability slow her down, physically, emotionally or spiritually.

Diane will also be previewing her soon-to-be-released (July 2008) autobiography God Made Only One of Me, which details her rise and fall, and her unmistakable will to fight on, despite her physical adversities. "I was diagnosed with a rare, incurable, life-threatening blood disease and became homeless. I lost everything that meant anything to me. But I've come through the storm, back from the land of the dead to the land of the living. I am so thankful for my life that I travel the country sharing my adversities and how I daily overcome with a smile, a service dog and a second chance," states Dike. "Being at the Colorado Pet Expo is a special treat for me, since I live right here in Colorado. Gracie and I won't have to travel far to talk about our message of hope and survival."

Dike and her husband Paul are the co-founders of Second Chance with Saving Grace, a non-profit organization designed to offer up Diane's message of hope to all who will listen, but more importantly, schools, hospitals and churches across Colorado and the nation. All proceeds from the sale of the books God Made Only One of Me and all monies raised are returned to the organization to continue the mission of the program. The booth at the Denver Pet Expo is sponsored by PawsUpPetSupply.com – a Denver, CO based retailer of pet supplies who has sponsored many of Second Chance’s efforts in 2008.
